In life, many women have such a phenomenon-when taking a bath, a piece of meat suddenly falls out of the bottom. What is going on? It turns out that this is medically called uterine prolapse. In China, the incidence of pelvic floor disorders is as high as 40%, and 80% of patients have different degrees of uterine prolapse.
First, what conditions cause uterine prolapse
1. Pregnancy and childbirth
The enlarged baby, placenta, and amniotic fluid during pregnancy make the abdominal pressure increase, and our pelvic floor muscles are in a continuous stretch state, so the elasticity decreases and the muscle strength is correspondingly weakened. At the same time, the supporting effect of the pelvic floor muscles on the urethra, bladder, uterus, and rectum is significantly weakened. Due to the continuous compression of the pelvic floor muscles, some mothers have enlarged vaginal openings, resulting in protruding vaginal walls. However, the function of the pelvic floor muscles after childbirth is weakened, and the bladder or rectum is easily displaced and the vagina bulges toward the vaginal opening if it is not repaired in time.
2. Number of deliveries
As the number of female childbirths increases, the degree of damage to the pelvic floor muscles will also increase, increasing the risk of uterine prolapse.
3. Increased abdominal pressure
Chronic cough, fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity, frequent lifting of heavy objects or constipation can cause the pressure in the abdominal cavity to increase, which can lead to uterine prolapse. Abdominal obesity can also cause uterine prolapse due to increased abdominal pressure.
4. Increased of age
With the increase of age, especially after menopause, the collagen fibers in the body shrink, the function of the pelvic floor gradually deteriorates, and the pelvic floor relaxes, thereby causing or aggravating uterine prolapse. After a woman ages, the ovarian function decreases and the secretion of estrogen decreases, which makes the supporting tissues of the pelvic floor weak and slack, prone to uterine prolapse, or aggravates the original degree of prolapse.
5. Abnormal congenital development
Caused by poor development of the supporting tissues of the reproductive organs.
Second, what are the manifestations of uterine prolapse
Mild patients generally have no symptoms of discomfort. Severely ill patients will experience falling sensation or varying degrees of waist soreness. The symptoms will be obvious after standing for a long time or after fatigue, and the symptoms will be reduced after bed rest.
It is often accompanied by dysuria, constipation, increased residual urine volume, and stress urinary incontinence in some patients. Depending on the degree of prolapse of the vulvar mass, some can retract on their own after bed rest, and some are difficult to reset.
Third, how to prevent and improve uterine prolapse
1. Early detection
Frequent self-observation for symptoms such as lower abdomen bulging, constipation, and difficulty in defecation, and go to the hospital for pelvic floor muscle function examination 42 days after delivery.
2. Pelvic floor muscle training
The root cause of vaginal bulge is the relaxation of pelvic floor muscles, so a pelvic floor rehabilitation instrument can be used to improve the strength of pelvic floor muscles through electrical stimulation + biofeedback training, and perform pelvic floor rehabilitation safely and effectively, thereby improving vaginal bulge.
3. Improve lifestyle
Control weight, improve constipation, treat chronic cough, avoid heavy lifting and high-intensity exercise.
4. Place the pessary
A pessary is a tool that supports the uterus and vaginal wall and maintains it in the vagina without protruding. It is divided into supporting type and filling type. The supporting type is used for patients with a lighter degree, and the filling type is used for severe patients. It needs to be taken out, cleaned and repositioned intermittently during use, and should be followed up closely and regularly.
5. Reduce alcohol and caffeine intake
Patients suffering from uterine prolapse need to reduce the intake of alcohol and caffeine. Some beverages containing alcohol and caffeine will stimulate the patient to secrete hormones, thereby prolonging the course of treatment of the disease.
